It would appear that Obama is beginning his slow drift to right attempting to portray himself as something other than the left wing Socialist that he really is. I guess he figures all them thar red necks that go to NASCAR races, are pro-life and want to see us win in Iraq won’t be smart enough to see through his little charade. This guy is obviously nothing but an elitist who thinks he is just so darn much smarter than the rest of us poor country folk. I guess he figures we’ll just be in such awe that we’ll be more than happy to believe everything he tells us. BUNK! Sorry there Obama! But the morons are all on the same side of the issues that you’re on and that you’ve advocated your whole life.

News that Barack Obama has changed his mind, and is rejecting at least some of the extremism of NARAL, Emily's List, and other radical abortion organizations are starting to creep into some mainstream news outlets.

Senator Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot sustain a long-term military presence in Iraq, but added that he would be open to "refine my policies" about a timeline for withdrawing troops after meeting with American military commanders during a trip to Iraq later this month.

Mr. Obama, whose popularity in the Democratic primary was built upon a sharp opposition to the war and an often-touted 16-month gradual timetable for removing combat troops, dismissed suggestions that he was changing positions in the wake of reductions in violence in Iraq and a general election fight with Senator John McCain.

"I've always said that the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed," he said. "And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I'm sure I'll have more information and will continue to refine my policies." 

Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in the coming weeks may become the first Democratic presidential nominee to attend a NASCAR stock car race in 16 years, his campaign confirmed today.

"We would love to make it to a NASCAR race if the schedule permits," Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki told Roll Call Thursday afternoon. "In the meantime, we plan to continue campaigning in communities across the country including small towns and rural communities where people are dissatisfied with the leadership of the last eight years and looking for a new direction for the country."

Does it seem odd to anyone but me, that while many in Europe are electing more conservative governments, we seem to be hell bent on going 180 degrees in the other direction? Socialism is an idea that should be relegated to the past. It has shown itself to be unworkable and an economic nightmare time after time. And yet, the morons among us still buy into the utopian fantasy that it will supposedly create. Face it folks, you’re only going to have more and you’re willing to work for it and you’re willing to vote for politicians who want to take less of it!

Somewhere along the way the principles on which the Founders based the foundation of their idea regarding what powers the government should have, have morphed into something I doubt very much that they would even be able to recognize. Because over time those great ideas have been pushed aside in favor of a more collective, nonsensical idea of government that actually reduces individual freedoms for all but the elitists of this country. I simply cannot understand those in this country who continually defend the warped policies of the left. Peddling the socialist propaganda regarding what this country is and what it stands for, now and throughout our history. I don’t understand what it is they hope to gain by tearing down their own country to the point where they seem so willing to even make up and spread outrageous lies for no other reason than to denigrate their country. When you have certifiable nut jobs out there like Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and until his death Edward Said, acting in conjunction with any number of washed up Hollywood types and nutty professors, all spewing nothing but pure hatred for our way of life, it has to have an impact on the less intelligent out there among us. There are possibly millions of ignorant people who actually believe the tripe advocated by these anti-American leftists. I truly worry about what the future holds in store for our country when men like these can command the large audiences that they do.

Men like Chomsky, Zinn and Said supported, and continue to support the idea of the utopian experience that was the old Soviet Union and still is in Communist Cuba. Based on such obviously loony opinions such as these, how do these men acquire such a huge following? And how have we allowed ourselves to be maneuvered into a position where our society has an ever increasing number of people who seem perfectly content to permit the government to take more and more from those among us willing to work hard. Only so that it turn around and give more and more to those who are unwilling to work just as hard as the other folks, or, to work at all? We have been hoodwinked into allowing the government to venture into areas never intended by the Founders and we are paying the price in higher taxes and a decreased return on those very same too high taxes. Who’s to blame? Well if we didn’t elect those pushing for increasing the government’s reach, it wouldn’t be able to reach so far into our pockets. So, it would appear that we’re our own worst enemy.

If we are ever to return this country to what it was the Founders envisioned for it and for us, we’ve got some tough decisions and some hard choices to make. But on the other hand, if we’re all happy and content with a government that seems to get a little bigger with each passing year, while taking more of our hard earned money, then we can continue to sit back and do nothing. The Founder’s vision was to put in place a government with limited powers, not the all encompassing leviathan that we have today. The more power we allow the government to possess, the fewer freedoms we the people will have. I only hope that when that little light bulb goes off for people it won’t be too late. If it’s not too late already.
